Oakbound

Oakbound was a long-legged brown tomcat with copper eyes and an agouti tabby pattern. He had no white on his body; even his nose and ears were a dark brown-black color. He had large triangular ears, a long tail which lightened as it reached the end.

During the final moons of his life, his muzzle had begun to grey. His body was riddled with scars, including the end of his tail being mangled due to being caught in a Twolegged trap, scars on his chest, neck and shoulders from various border skirmishes and a notable mark on his leg from a daring escape from a badger.

Oakbound was a quiet, stern cat with little to no patience for anyone, including his own clan members. He strove for perfection and while he went along with Goldstar’s mantra of ‘community and family’, he was very ambitious and constantly attempted to get an upper hand on his fellow warriors. He was a senior warrior in Goldenstar’s time, but it is debated whether or not he would have been trusted with the new leadership in Thunderclan.

• Easy to disappoint and hard to gain the approval of, he wasn’t unkind to his fellow warrior but seemed to always remember others (and his own) failures rather than successes.
• Skilled combatant, having survived many fights, including one with a badger which earned him his warrior name.
• Responsible for mentoring Maplesprig, and was proud that his apprentice reached warriorhood despite the hardships the clan had faced.

Kit: 0-6 moons

Hopkit was born as the only member of his litter, during Lilystar’s reign. He was a quiet kit from the beginning, and originally his parents thought that he might be a bit meek; something that was not reflected as he aged.

Apprentice: 6-12 moons

As an apprentice, he saved another apprentice from a badger by luring the beast away, climbing an young oak, and taunting the beast from the lowest boughs until warriors came to drive off the creature.

At his warrior ceremony, he was given the warrior name ‘Oakbound’, to commemorate his actions on his 12th moon – it is likely he would no longer be able to repeat the same act as his kitten size contributed heavily to his ability to actually remain in the tree.

Warrior: 53-69 moons

Oakbound preformed his duties with grace, yet always seemed to be trying to get into the Leader’s good graces. While it is likely leadership took notice of his activities he was still promoted to senior warrior, and mentored Maplesprig with vigour – and maybe a little bit too much criticism. As he grew older, a younger she-cat named Quailsong asked him to sire a litter for her, which he graciously accepted .

Elder: 76-78 moons

Oakbound finally entered the Elder’s den due to developing cataracts, and passed away from whitecough a moon later. He passed away a moon before his kits were born and never got to meet Sunkit or Sparrowkit.

[Genealogy Details]

Responsible for mentoring Maplepaw – now Maplesprig, and was quite pleased with the young cat’s performance despite his laidback personality. He thought that he could have done more to foster a fighting spirit in his apprentice.

Mated with Quailcall, who asked him to sire a litter due to his longevity and reputation for excellence in the clan. He died the moon before his kits were born.
