Brightmaple

Brightmaple is a bright-colored tortoiseshell she-cat with her dominate colors being red and brown tabby. She does have a little bit of white that is mainly on her chin, throat and chest. She is rather square in build, being stocky and solidly built with long fur. Atop her head are two folded ears and peering out from her round face is two rich honey-gold eyes and a pink nose.

Brightmaple has always been an optimistic and kind she-cat which is part of how she had come across her warrior name. She is very proud of her clan and her kits and loves both very much. As an older she-cat, she has a bit more patience than when she was younger. She loves teaching and interacting with the kits and apprentices of the clan, enjoying the endless curiosity and boundless enthusiasm the youth of the clan show towards life.

Born in the middle of green-Leaf, Maplekit was accompanied into the world by one sibling. Unknown to her or the clan, Maplekit’s granddame had encountered and mated with a Scottish Fold domestic tom who had been roaming along one of Windclan’s borders and as such, Maplekit and her sibling had been born with the folded ears of their grandsire and their own dame. They grew up with an average kithood, getting into the usual kit troubles and had many nursery-mates growing up- including Rowanglade and Skyeyes. While she invaded Laughingfox’s den with Rowankit on occasion, she didn’t remain as fascinated with such things as her denmate was.

When she was apprenticed as Maplepaw, it was during the harsh grip of leaf bare. While she had a pretty quiet apprenticeship, during a thaw in new leaf, she was hunting along the flatlands and when she was pursuing prey by the gorge and fell through the ice. This led to her receiving a chill and coming down with a cold. Thankfully, being a young cat at the time, she was able to overcome it and it didn’t put her too behind in her training.

Eventually, Brightpaw earned the warrior name Brightmaple and in time, was granted her own apprentice to train. As she trained the young cat, she found she enjoyed the mentoring aspect as well as found herself caring for the young cat she trained. It made her realize, after her apprentice had been made a warrior, that she would like to raise a litter of kits, as well as do her duty and add kits to the clan. A two-for-one scenario that, in the end, would work out for her.

It was then she approached the senior warrior Bluestone if he would sire a litter for her and in the Moon of First Green (2017). Fawnbriar and two other kits were born in the litter she bore him and they were very proud as they watched the litter grow.

Due to her Scottish Fold bloodline, as evident by her folded ears, as Brightmaple has gotten older, she has also found herself growing more stiff and her joints more swollen, especially during the more dramatic weather changes. As such and after consulting with Rowanglade, she requested to be removed from active warrior status and retired to the elder’s den. She does worry that Fawnbriar might be as unlucky as she gets older, due to her daughter inheriting her folded ears, but only time will tell.
