Boldstar was definitely loitering. He was in the Freshkill Hollow where the remnants of the day's respectable catch waited for hungry mouths but he wasn't there to eat. Instead he was seated off to one side, lounging as he waited for the moon to raise itself a little higher in the sky. The day remained damp this late into the night, but not enough to do more than wet the pelts of those he would pick to come with the clan. Spirits wouldn't be dampened on a gathering night, even with the rain.
He knew even before his call cats would begin to gather. They tracked the moon's changes just as much as any medicine cat or leader. Gatherings were special days where one might be recognized with a privilege and get to see what was happening through the entire clan lands, not just the RiverClan Territory. Even he was always excited for them and he got to go to every one.

While Cottonbright didn't usually pay very close attention to how high the moon was, in this case, she was particularily keen. Tonight was Gathering night, and the large white she-cat was eager despite the soddeness of her coat. It had been a rough leaf bare and she was dreaduflly curious about the goings on of the other clans.
Steeling herself with a deep breath, she padded towards camp, eyes cast about curiously to see who was lingering around camp in preparation of Boldstar's soon to be announcement. Oh, she hoped she would be called to join them - it was much more satisfying to go first hand.
Spotting the large ticked form of their leader, Cottonbright's small paws brought her to his side - subconciously, pattering quickly in the dampness. Perhaps her excitement of the night was too obvious, and her tail poised an energetic wave in his direction. "It's good to see you, Boldstar." Her petite voice was emboldened with polite sincerity.

"It's good to see you, too, Cottonbright." Boldstar created the she-cat warmly. It had been kind of her to volunteer to take Willowfrost out. Seeing her take care to help the medicine cat had been well received by the big leader. "Are you already waiting to see who gets to go?" There was a laugh in Boldstar's voice as he spoke, carrying humor and removing any reproach from what could have been harshly taken words.

A balmy gaze met Boldstar, blinking a bashful sort of glance as she felt the tips of her ears warm. Slowly, careful not to saturate her back end, lowered herself onto her haunches, the length of her tail curling over the shapes of her petite paws. Was it that obvious?
Her throat vibrated with a dovelike purr, both chagrined at being the focal point of his attention and increasingly restless as the night stretched onwards to the designated time of the soon to be announcement. "T-to be honest, the Gathering has been on my mind for days now."
After such a harsh leaf bare, she wondered... How was the prey running in their territories? Had they lost anyone since last moon? She knew she shouldn't be so perturbed about the well being of the other clans, but it was crucial that there was balance in the forest.

"Everyone gets excited for a gathering." There was still a laugh in Boldstar's voice as he spoke. Then he stood and stretched, his big frame pulled taught. "I guess I should get things underway."
With that the big tom took the few running steps he needed to leap to the flat spot formed by a root of the Twinwillow, taking his place where untold generations of leaders before him had stood. He spoke out loudly and as clearly as he could so that even those in the old warren would hear his call. "All cats old enough should gather here in the shade of the Twinwillow."
Willwfrost was organizing her herb supply when Boldstar's voice rang out across camp. Quickly leaving the den, she made her way carefully across the clearing before settling herself down to await her leader's words.
Her nose picked up the smell of Cottonbright nearby and nodded warmly in her direction before turning her attention back towards Boldstar.

"Ok..." With a nod, she watched as the big tom excused himself with a luxurious stretch before making his way to the speaking spot, voice carrying throughout the twists and boughs of camp. Cottonbright's purr was still in the air, much quieter, certainly, but full of anticipation. Even if she wasn't chosen to go, perhaps she could join a hunting patrol and pester Willowfrost about the details later.

Boldstar continued in the same carrying voice that he'd spent so much time as a leader trying to perfect. It wouldn't do to sound weak when addressing the clan, though he was sure he did sometimes when he was younger.
"In addition to Myself, [Deputy] and Willowfrost, Salmonclaw and Cottonbright will be attending the gathering tonight." He gave the words a long moment to sink in before jumping down in the move that adjourned the meeting. He strode confidently towards the exit, knowing the excited attendees would join him on the journey.

Eyes went wide at the mention of her name, and she couldn't help but thump the ground with her tail with excitement. She'd be able to see and hear firsthand from those gathered. Following behind Boldstar with a little skip, her white form disappeared from beyond the exit and towards Fourtrees.

A happy purr escaped Willowfrost. She had assumed she'd be attending the gathering, but it was always nice to hear her name called- not to mention Salmonclaw would be going as well! Such a pleasure to have another friendly scent amongst the crowd.
Blinking her cloudy eyes, Willowfrost stood and slowly followed her leader out of the camp.
