Rowanglade only half heard the gravely yowl given her intense focus on the piles of plant matter tucked into every nook and cranny of her little den. Water was always a nuisance and outside everywhere was still damp and the humidity hung heavy in the air. She had almost lost the contents of one of her storage nooks. If she hadn't noticed when she did and moved the stock it could have been very bad. And now she was working on shoring up the walls and roof for the next storm. This nook would not leak anymore.

Wait... Hare's foot?

"Who smells like a hare's foot?" Rowanglade left out her followup question about why that was worrying, as hares and cats walked the same ground. Other than the underlying scent of grass to a hare that came from the diet there wasn't that much difference.

  A flick of an ear confirmed the she-cats presence as her voice answered her. Barleyswipe's maw twisted in a exasperated sigh.

"It's lack of smell that is troubling. A hare's foot can't smell like a cat's nose can."

Muttering out loud as she padded a bit further into the den. Not even a whiff of herb... Sniffling a thick drip of mucus, her tongue swiped a loud rasp over a furry paw, quite self conscious all of the sudden.

All the moisture in the air was purposefully toying with her. Mid lap, she rasped, "Rain flood you out? Hopefully no - " Half catching her words in a cough before staring sharply at the medicine cat.

"No damage was done. Just a little leak: Another storm and there would have been a flood." Rowanglade quickly abandoned the patch job she was working on in favor of approaching the other cat. With that amount of congestion it would be awhile before anything so interesting as an odor would be gracing poor Barleyswipe's nose.

"How long has this been going on?" The question was the first of a full list Rowanglade already had in mind. "And please give a full list of symptoms. The congestion is obvious..." She trailed off, already a train of potential ways to diagnose the illness flashing through Rowanglade's mind. Any of the coughs were possible, except maybe killingcough. Thank StarClan that hadn't been seen on any notable scale in generations.

It wouldn't do if the whole den became flooded, soaking herbs and berries into an unusable mush. Everything would have to be discarded, and Barleyswipe was relieved their medicine cat was so diligent. When questioned about their symptoms, the old feline paused - testing the moistness on their lips with a thoughtful swipe of their tongue. Soreness was still there, that much was for certain, and she made sure to be concise even if she wasn't entirely sure how long it had been occuring. Seemed this and that blurred together every now and then.

"On and off, I'd say few days past. Soreness in my throat... Been coughing. Had a pretty bad bout day prior left me winded."

Recounting the past few days came easily to the old timer even in her old age. Losing track of her body was one thing, but Starclan be damned if her mind flew her by. Yet revealing these details caused her a bit of pause, going relatively quiet despite her usual chatty nature. Hopefully it would just seemed a symptom of her sore throat.
