Character Slot Allotment

One (1) Character Before Roleplay

Until ten (10) role playing posts have been made, a player only has access to a single character belonging to one of the four clans (ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, or ShadowClan).

After ten (10) Role Play Posts

  • 4 non-elder Clan Character Slots.
  • 1 Domestic Cat Character Slot.
  • 1 Feral or Semi-feral Character Slot.
  • Unlimited Clan Elder Slots.

Normal Character Slots

Each player is permitted the following total normal character slots with which to create characters to use in role play once they have reached 10 role play posts.

  • Clan Characters: Each player is granted four (4) Clan Character Slots that may be used to create cats who are members of ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan and/or ShadowClan.
  • Domestic Cat: Each player is granted one (1) Domestic Cat Character Slot that may be used to create a Domestic Feline (These are called Kittypets at most games).
  • Feral/Semi-Feral Character: Each player who meets the requirements for the creation of Feral and/or Semi-feral characters as listed on the Non-Clan Character Creation Page is eligible to create one (1) Feral or Semi-feral character. (These are called Rogues and Loners at most games).

Special Character Slots

Special character slots are those granted via a few very special circumstances based on contributions to the game by way of finances, game information, or plot creation. You may receive extra character slots for the following reasons.

  • Special Administrative Grant for use in a plot. Slots received in this way are linked to a character and will only remain with the player as long as the character does. To request an extra slot to support a plot, please fill out this form.
  • Financial Donation to the site The details of this program have not been finalized, but all past donators will be given whatever slot rewards are appropriate for the donations already made.
  • Non-financial Donation to the site The details of this program have not been finalized, but all donations already made that qualify will result in the proper rewards.
  • Other reasons seen fit by the administrative team. This type is incredibly rare and issued only in extenuating circumstances. This will include things like a character becoming deeply entangled in game plot in a way that the staff feels should be released from tying up a slot. These slots are not permeant and are linked to the character in question.

Character Limitations

Pending Character Limitations

No player may have more than one (1) character undergoing the approvals process at one time unless the additional pending characters are covered by an exception. This is to prevent huge backlogs and problems with excessive characters pending belonging to a single player at once.

Exception: NPC as Related to Approved PCs – When a player is creating the NPC parent/sibling/mentor sheets of their PCs, the entire group of NPCs related to that PC may be pending simultaneously so long as no new PCs are in progress.

Ranked Character Limitations

No player may have more than two (2) ranked characters, one (1) from each of the two classifications of rank type, unless the situation is specifically addressed by an exception. These two ranked characters cannot reside in the same clan.

Rank Classifications

  • Leadership: Leader or Deputy
  • Spiritual: Medicine Cat or Medicine Cat’s Apprentice

Exceptions

  • Administrators: Admins may NPC Leader or Spiritual Ranks as required.
  • Moderators: Mods may NPC Leader or Spiritual Ranks as required, with permission of the Administration.

Non-slotted Characters

Certain types of characters do not count towards filling any of the character slots in the previous category. These non-slotted characters fall into the following types.

  • Elder Clan Member: Each player has an unlimited number of slots for elders that do not count towards your Clan Character Slot Limit.
  • Non-Player Characters (NPC): NPCs do not count towards your character slot limits, but are generally limited to creating parents for your PC (which are preferred to have passed on, in most cases, or expected to pass on fairly early in the character’s developing IC History). Players may be asked to eliminate excessive NPCs to make room for PCs at any time, and are expected to comply with this request.
  • Rank Application Characters: Characters acquired through a ranks application such as a leader or medicine cat do not use slots.

Non-transfer of Slot Types

Character slots cannot be transferred or traded between types. If you do not wish to play a character of a certain type, you cannot transfer that slot to turn it into another type.

Resolving Violations

Any time in which a violation of limitations policies occur, the player is expected to report to the admins and surrender characters until they fall back within limits or promptly arrange a death for the excess character.

Players found hiding violations will not get to select which characters they surrender. Selections will instead be made by the game administration.

Approvals

Approval Required

No character may appear in Role Play areas of the game, either in mention or as a character in a thread, at any time prior to them having been approved by the game administration. This administration approval is achieved by undergoing the Approvals Process described in the Character Creation Area of the game.

Bans Compliance

All characters undergoing approvals must fall within the appropriate bans list for that characters intended group. Items appearing on the bans list are those traits that your character may not possess. Characters who do not comply with the bans lists will not be approved by game administration, and thus will not be eligible for use in Role Play. Players are expected to either alter their character, or store that character until such time as the bans change.

It should be noted that the bans on Clan Cat Kits and Apprentices will not be lifted at any time. Only litters that happen IC will be used as a source for Kits and Apprentices.

Expectations Compliance

It is required that all characters undergoing approvals comply with the described expectations for length and quality of a character sheet. Characters who do not meet these requirements will not be approved by the game administration and thus will not be eligible for use in Role Play. The submitting player will be required edit their character until it complies with the described expectations.

Realm of Experience Compliance

Realm of experience applies to character names in terms or character approvals.

Genetics Requirements

All characters approved at CoSC are required to be genetically possible in real life. This is because our Litters Department requires characters to be genotyped to be eligible to procreate, and cats who are not possible in real life cannot be genotyped. While eye colors are permitted a much greater amount of leeway (we do not restrict eye colors by coat color as in real life genetics, but unnatural colors are not permitted) pelt colors and patterns must be ones that exist in real life. Further details on genetically possible coat colors can be found in the Genetics Department.

  • Avatars must be tasteful. What is Tasteful is decided by Kitsufox: Generally if it’s not a violation of other rules or profane, it is permissible.
  • Colors in avatars may not be those that clash with the website. Remember, even what you add reflects the image of this game.
  • Avatars maximum size is 100 by 100 pixels.
  • Avatars may not contain copyrighted images.
  • Avatars may not contain animation that poses a risk of triggering epileptic seizures.

Signature Rules

  • Signatures may remain reasonably sized. They may contain 1 (one) image of 100 pixels high and 600 pixels wide (or multiple images not adding up to more in either direction) in addition to a maximum of 3 lines of text. Signatures without images may contain a total of 8 lines of text.
  • Signature images and text must be tasteful. This means no profanity or nudity.
  • Signature image and text colors may not be those that clash with the website. Every image and word on this website reflects it’s image, and we wish to project a mature and positive image.
  • Signature images and text may not contain copyrighted images or text.
  • Signature images may not contain animation that poses a risk of triggering epileptic seizures.
  • Just because signatures permit the use of 1000 characters does not mean you need to use them all. This high number of characters is in place to make it possible for a player to link all of their current characters in their signature, not to let people go on for pages with random images and quotes.
  • Please keep links to other games, sites, etc., out of your signature. If you wish to post links, please do so in areas approved for Advertising.
  • Players found to be in violation with this policy will have their right to use Signatures removed.

  • No post may contain more than 2 (two) images per character portrayed in the post. The image or pair of images may not amount to more than 400 pixels wide by 100 pixels high worth of images per character.
  • All images must remain within copyright laws.
  • Images may not be colors that clash with the website.
  • Images may not be Hot Linked from other websites. This means that to use an image anywhere on the forums you must upload it to your own server, or a free image hosting service such as Photobucket. This rule counts for both the Forums, AND on character sheets.
  • Images taken from another sort and displayed in character sheets MUST be accompanied by a letter of permission if they are not altered. Altered images may be displayed in character sheets.
  • Images that are linked from character sheets or the forum must be linked IN CONTEXT. This means that you may not link directly to the image, but instead must link to the page that image is located on. (This rule does not effect directly linking images for image requests, but image requests are the only place in which this rule is not in effect.)
  • Image may not contain animation that poses a risk of triggering epileptic seizures.

Character Sheet Image Rules

  • Images used on character sheets need to be approved by the Character Images Department.
  • These images will be pixel-style images intended to portray every character as accurately as possible.

Accounts

Verbatim from General Policy

Each player, signified by an IP Address, is limited to one account to prevent abuses against other limitations that are in place.

Houses in which multiple players live MUST PM Kitsufox with the names of those accounts so that she does not make assumptions that intentional rule-breaking is being undertaken.

Accounts Policy In Detail

IP Addresses

Every computer that is on the internet is identified by an IP, or internet protocol, address. These IP Addresses can be used to establish identities and here at CoSC. We consider “Correlation” between IPs to be consistent matches between your IP(s) and those of another player or players.

Families

Members of the same family are permitted individual accounts, and in accordance we permit players to report accounts that will have IP Correlation. Should the players fail to submit the list of correlated accounts, then CoSC can and will take action against those accounts. This includes the possibility of deactivation of the account, an act that cannot be un-done.

The CoSC Staff reserves the right to limit the number of correlated accounts a family has in the situation that we feel is suspicious. Family Permission is granted on a trust related basis, and if we are presented with a reason to lose that trust then we will be left with no choice but to take action.

Correlation to Deactivated Accounts

It should be understood that correlations to Deactivated Accounts that have been retained (IE: You no longer have access to but have been retained on this website to retain RP that account has participated in) do count in the same way as an active correlated account.

A single player is permitted one active account, but must report any correlations to accounts that are deactivated, even if that deactivated account belongs to the same player. A player may possess any number of deactivated accounts, but will NOT be permitted adoption of any characters that belonged to their previous accounts. Additionally, it should be noted that players with a long history of correlated accounts will have a very rough time gaining access to staff positions or character adoptions.

Multiple Account Investigation

In the case that suspicious activity is detected, the staff will open a private discussion with the correlated account and the owners of those accounts will be given an opportunity to explain themselves.

Once the explanation is given then it will be up to the staff to decide the punishment.

Ignorance to Rules Punishment

Should the situation be deemed the result of ignorance of the rules (something that is inexcusable, but lesser than intentional violation) the punishment will be in scale with the crime. The players will be subjected to a 3 Month Period in which they will not be permitted to create additional characters, after which they will be reviewed and (should it be deemed appropriate) they will regain those rights.

Intentional Violation Punishments

Should the situation be deemed intentional violation of the rules the players involved will all be banned and their characters confiscated.

Harassment

Verbatim from General Policy

Harassment will not be tolerated. Players found to be harassing others through any medium will suffer a permanent ban from CoSC.

Harassment Policy In Detail

What is Harassment

CoSC defines harassment as any act that violates the rights of another player in any way.

Player Rights

CoSC Assigns the following rights to other players:

  1. Respect: The players have the right to be treated with respect by all other players. This includes (but is not limited to) other players honoring things like requests for them to be left alone.
  2. Non-Confrontational Environment: While conflicts between players do happen, CoSC expects players to not intentionally initiate conflict with another, and when finding themselves in conflict with another will work with staff to settle that conflict peacefully, without extending the conflict.
  3. Non-racist Environment: Every player has a right to a CoSC experience free of out of character racism. (Inter-Clan racism is canon and should be expected).
  4. Lack of Religious Persecution: Players have the right to use the greetings of religious holidays when appropriate, but are expected to accept the sentiments of others (even if they do not share the same holiday). Respect for others’ religions is to be expected, and in the same vein religious soap-boxing is frowned upon.
  5. Non-Sexist Environment: Every player has the right to an experience free of out of character sexism.
  6. LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Environment: Every player has the right to the sexual orientation and gender expression of their choice without any form of out of character persecution for those choices. This includes (but is not limited to) things like intentional mis-gendering and exclusion based on sexual orientation. Game staff will also make efforts to support players both in and out of character with tools needed to communicate variations of sexual orientation and gender expression as deemed applicable to the game environment.

Harassment Investigation

When harassment is discovered or reported an investigation will commence. In some cases, this may include a suspension of the reported-harasser account for the duration of the investigation. The investigation will first establish whether or not harassment actually took place. If harassment is decided to have taken place they will then proceed to determine if it was intentional or unintentional. The final step is to decide a punishment for the violator.

Punishments for Unintentional Harassment

Unintentional Harassment, being unintentional, is not punished as severely as intentional.

The CoSC staff will generally ask for an apology to be issued to the person harassed. Whether or not this apology is public or private will be decided based on the situation. Should the harassment be public, so shall the apology. In the case of publicly executed harassment, the harasser will also be expected to issue an apology to the other members of the game for disrupting things.

It should be noted that people guilty of consistent unintentional harassment will leave the staff no choice but to take severe action against them, up to and including eviction from the game.

Punishments for Intentional Harassment

Intentional harassment will result in expulsion from the game. There is no place at CoSC for players who abuse others.

directions

THIS CONTENT IS A RAW IMPORT FROM THE PREVIOUS WEBSITE.

Please do not attempt to use this content until it has been converted.

These rules include the expectations and various documents used by staff to ensure consistency of judgement and enforcement across character sheets. Rules in this section don’t directly effect players, but they do effect what players are permitted to have in their character sheets.

Clan Cat Guidelines

Age Guidelines

Due to CoSC’s much harsher take on the warriors world, we interpret Clanner ages a bit differently than most games do. In accordance we have created a help file to explain out age interpretations. The general guidelines being employed in the creation of this guide is that of 1 Moon being equivalent to 1 year of human development. It should also be understood that, due to the lack of scientifically based medical care and vaccines, feral cats lives are nowhere near as long as the lives of those who live as house pets.

Clan Bans

These rules outline things that are specifically not permitted (or permitted based on limitations) by individual Clan.

See AlsoTC BansRC BansWC Bans, and SC Bans

Name Rules

Names are subject to frequent and lengthy discussion in the Warriors Fandom. To clarify the CoSC approach to many of the name issues, all of our policies and practices are outlined herein.

Realm of Experience

Realm of Experience refers to the idea that the Clan Cats experience life in a certain way that differentiates the language they use from that of humankind. It’s specifically used primarily to refer to words that lie outside their “Realm of Experience”. This means that, because clan cats don’t experience life with humans then certain human words would not be amongst those they would know or learn.

Non-Clan Cat Guidelines

Non-clan Bans

These rules outline things that are specifically not permitted (or permitted based on limitations) by for cats outside the Clans.

Overall Character Guidelines

Approvals Process Outlined

This is a rundown of the process that  admin employ when we run checks of characters. It is outlined as it is so that users who are interested may better understand the process and even employ at least some level of pre-check they do themselves.

Mature Themes

The world of the clan cats is a harsh place, but that does not excuse the players of this game from responsible use of sensitive topics. In accordance we have created this document to explain our expectations and requirements for several sensitive subjects. These guidelines apply to both histories and role play.

Short Description Guidelines

In an effort to clarify and simplify and the confusing subject of color naming. The specific purpose of this policy is to address what each term is considered to mean and how it will translate from the Description into the Short Description. The color words lists given here are NOT all inclusive, but as decisions are made on how to interpret words not already listed here, they will be added.
