Hawkfeather is a stocky chocolate brown classic tabby with gold eyes and a spot of white on her chest. Her pelt bears many scars and she’s less muscular than she used to be. One of her legs is damaged from the hawk attack that put her in the elders’ den. She walks with a limp and her leg still flares with pain sometimes.

Hawkfeather is a strict and serious cat. Growing up in and living through very harsh seasons has made her extremely focused on serving her Clan. She’s hard on others because she wants the Clan to survive and the Clan can only survive if everyone does their jobs well. To her, slacking off is like hesitating in battle. It invites too much risk. She has no love for outsiders and she sees natural events like blizzards and famine as the truer enemies of ShadowClan. She also hates it when cats waste fresh-kill and when anyone toys with their prey before killing it, unless they’re teaching kits to hunt (in which case, it’s not toying). Getting injured hasn’t stopped her. Even as an elder, Hawkfeather refuses to stay idle. She keeps herself active by doing apprentice level work like den cleaning and crowfood disposal.

Hawkfeather was born as Hawkkit in the Moon of First Green (2015), became an apprentice as Hawkpaw in the Moon of Cheetah’s Flight (2015), and was named a warrior as Hawkfeather in the Moon of Melting Waters (2016). Her apprenticeship and the year after were both marked by unforgiving leaf-bares. Family and friends were taken more by cold, starvation, and sickness than any battles with other cats. This fueled Hawkfeather’s determination to provide for ShadowClan as best she could.

In the Moon of Running Prey (2018), she gave birth to Hollyclaw and Hickorystorm. Oakfoot had sired the litter. Hawkfeather had waited a long time to have kits and she would not have what happened to Briarsteam happen to hers. She watched her children closely and made sure neither left camp unattended. She also raised them to be respectful and hard-working, emphasizing service to the Clan above all else and chastising them if they complained about anything she deemed frivolous. Even playing with prey before killing it or not eating every bite of their fresh-kill bothered her. She would tell them not to start what they couldn’t finish.

Like the ones before it, the most recent leaf-bares brought her nothing but trouble. Oakfoot was killed in the Moon of Tiger’s Wrath (2018). She did give birth to a pair of kits, Ashkit and Sootkit, on the 20th of Leopard’s Rest (2019). They were sired by Dawnflurry, which Hawkfeather was pleased to announce even though she finds the tom annoying at times. While her first litter was named after trees, this one was named after fire residue, because of the way new plants grow out of it after a blaze.

Once the kits were weaning and could be left under the watch of someone else, Hawkfeather got back to hunting more frequently. In the late Moon of Long Nights (2019), Hawkfeather’s namesake came calling when a desperate hawk tried its luck at catching her. Hawkfeather defended herself and managed to kill it, but she was injured enough to be forced into retirement. She was annoyed that the recovery period gave her less time to instill all of her values onto Ashkit and Sootkit as she had with Hollyclaw and Hickorystorm. She hoped that at least Hollyclaw and Palestar could influence them into being as disciplined as they were.

Her appearance is based off of semi-cobby domestic shorthairs.
