Palestar didn't have the luxury to hide away from the heat tonight. Gathering night was upon them again, and so she heeded traditions call, and it dictated her paw falls as the long haired she-cat padded up, and leaped onto her usual spot where all could see and all could hear her.
"Let all cats old enough to catch thier own prey join here in the shelter of the briar patch for a clan meeting!"
Her whiskers twitched patiently. With the sun down it wouldn't be so hot - but she wasn't looking forward to the trek.

Hearing Palestar’s call for the meeting, Flutterdream paused for a heartbeat making sure no herbs were going to fall. Stepping back a couple pawsteps, satisfied and quickly padded out of her den to underneath the briar patch. Her amber eyes seemed to search Palestars trying to either remember why she called the meeting. Having completely forgotten the Gathering.
Not finding any information, she shook herself and turned towards the rest of her clan as she waited for the announcement. I hope it’s nothing too serious. The tortoiseshell thought her mind wandering to the list of things that still needed to be done in her den that probably will have to wait until later.

Hickorystorm moved from his nest in the elder's den, lazily stretching his frame until his legs and tail quivered. The way the temperature of the air smelled cooler, he figured the sun must have gone down. Without being able to see the sky, he had no idea what time of the month it was, so he was curious what the clan meeting was about this time and made his way towards where he could smell the rest of the clan gathering. As he drew near, he caught his sister's scent and, using his whiskers and the mental map of the clan's layout, he made his way over to her. As Hickorystorm grew used to being blind, he was slowly gaining confidence in making his way around again.

Ashpaw made his way out of the apprentice's den where he'd been resting, though resting was more accurately called waiting on the announcement. He wanted badly to be on the list, but knew it was unlikely. Only the older apprentices were regularly picked after they made it to their first gathering.
That didn't stop him from hoping, though. Instead he wet a paw with his tongue and ran the paw carefully over his ears. Ashpaw didn't know if looking his best would help, but anything simple was worth the effort...

Dawnflurry gazed up at the sky, yet again grateful that day was done and night had begun. The red and white tom had been inspecting part of the East Tunnel when Palestar called the meeting. As he padded past the dens on his way to the Talking Spot, he noticed the way Flutterdream had looked at Palestar.
"Everything alright?" he asked her casually.

Times like these Honeyglow was pleased his coat was short. He hadn't been resting long before the need fo fresh kill brought him from the elder's den. With a stretch that arched his back, he casually picked a lizard by the tail and began to tuck in. Whiskers twitching his head turned when he heard Palestar's cry, maw full of lizard as he was keen to listen to the leader's announcement.

Palestar stood awaiting for the cats of her clan to aseemble. Odd eyes assessing the scene, he continued, knowing that her voice was reach far.
"As well as myself, Dawnflurry, and Flutterdream, Hollyclaw and Ashpaw will join us this Gathering night. For those who remain, organize yourself into a couple hunting patrols."
Hunting seemed best accomplished at night to avoid the worst of the heat. With another moment of consideration for the cats to gather behind her, she lead her small group out of camp and towards Fourtrees.
