Palestar had just finished a very late lunch, the tips of her fur damp and blown about by the encroaching storm. Thunder had yet to brighten the clouds, but the heavy rainfall made it apparent that the Gathering tonight wasn't going to be especially pleasant. Nevertheless, her body moved, ritualistically to her speaking spot to address the crowd.
"Let all cats old enough to catch thier own prey join here in the shelter of the briar patch for a clan meeting!"

Tonight was not a night he wished to be out and about. The Elder was facing the worst of his humidity pains he had in a while and was tucked away in the Elder's den. An ear flicked when he heard Palestar's voice and empathized with her as well as any who made the trek to the Gathering. Slowly he inched himself up and peered out of the den, showing support of his leader.

As the rain fell upon everyone and everything, Hollyclaw told herself that the rain, annoying as it was, was simply another part of life. A test of patience. Warriors were composed, so there Hollyclaw was, crouched on the ground, waiting for Palestar to announce attendees and give them leave to, well, leave.
Regarding Hollyclaw, Dawnflurry thought his former apprenticed looked a bit like a rock. Unlike her and unlike Hawkfeather, who sat near the entrance of the elders' den, the deputy simply remained standing in his usual spot towards the eventual back of the crowd. It would be less unpleasant to leave camp that way, rather than having to rise from the wet ground.

Heronsong heard her leader's call just as she re-entered the camp. Swiftly, she dropped her hunted quarry, a thrush and two voles, on the fresh-kill pile, and headed over to the briar patch. It had only been a few days since Petalstorm...she shuddered, seating herself close to her leader. She still grieved for her fallen clanmate, haunted by the strange circumstances around the elder's death. With any luck, this coming gathering could provide her clan with some insight.
Hickorystorm disliked being wet. Being in the elder's den, he felt a guilty pleasure at the fact he didn't have to be out in the rain right now, soaked to the pelt like some of his clanmates. He also felt that same guilty pleasure that he was able to drowse in the den during what must be a dreary, rain-filled day. Despite the heat, that same rain played a relaxing white noise that lulled his hearing. However, hearing Palestar's call, he hauled his sleepy tail from his nest and plodded up next to Honeyglow to listen to the meeting. He hadn't been to a Gathering since he was blinded and with the rain and how the terrain tonight would be, he wasn't expecting to go tonight either.

Sootpaw could barely contain himself as Palestar called a meeting. Who cared about rain - the gathering was happening! He tried his best to look presentable despite the water and somehow managed to make his current appearance of 'half-drowned rat' look energetic.
Maybe she would pick him this time? He really wanted to go...

At first, Flutterdream didn’t hear Palestars call. Half due to the fact she was mostly daydreaming about half the things she should be doing. Like sorting through her herbs, but , like most of Shadowclan, didn’t like the idea of her fur getting wet. Unlike some other clan that think they are fish. Half running half padding towards the briar patch as if a fox was after her, Flutterdream tried to resist the urge to shake out her pelt.
Sometimes I wonder why Starclan sends the rain. She thought to herself her ears flicking as though she was annoyed. The small she-cat making a mental note to check the herbs when they get back to make sure nothing had gone bad. Not that really anything would happen, just to be safe.
In youth we learn; in age we understand.

Ashpaw made his way sedately after his mentor. He crouched next to Hollyclaw, trying to look less bedraggled than he felt. The rain was deeply annoying, but could do nothing to dampen the excitement of the coming night. Not that he was going to let that excitement show. It would be unbecoming of a warrior so it was unbecoming for him.

From the vantage of the talking spot, she watched as her clanmates braved the elements to meet her call, as every ancestor before her. She took great pride in watching her clan assemble, each individual bringing a unique skill or attribute that bettered Shadowclan as a whole. Every cat had their purpose, while some cats would go, others would stay. She kept her measured yowl just loud enough for all to hear while the rains stormed above.
"Tonight is another Gathering night. Along with myself, Dawnflurry, and Flutterdream - I call Heronsong and Sootpaw to join us. Ashpaw, please check and reinforce any den leaks you may find and Hollyclaw will stand sentry until we return." Soggy tail held high, and stepped down from her addressing perch, banner waving high for those called to follow. "Let's be off." Before leaving with her chosen through the west tunnel of camp and into the rain, but even rain couldn't slow a shadowclan cat with purpose on their mind.

Sootpaw bounced a few times as his name was called, and he looked over his shoulder, and spun a few times trying to find Heronsong in the crowd. Once he caught sight of the bedraggled shecat- looking substantially sleeker than he remembered her - he bounced over.
"Off to the gathering!" Sootpaw knew he was almost vibrating with how hard he was purring, but maybe getting all his excitement out now let him be cool an mysterious at the gathering. He doubted it - there was going to be so many cats there! "When was the last time you got to go??"

Heronsong's spirits lifted a little as she heard she was going to the gathering. It was always exciting to see other cats' faces, even if they were sometimes enemies. With the general peace time, she imagined she'd be able to socialize a little bit.
She let out an an amused chirrup as Sootpaw bounced over to her. The apprentice had so much energy, it was refreshing. "Oh, a couple of moons ago, I think. It was rather exciting. Tonight should be no different! We'll get to meet cats from the other clans."

"I hope the other clans bring apprentices! I have questions for them." Sootpaw blinked the water out of his eyes, and noticed his Leader has already made her way to the entrance of the camp.
"Ah! Wait for me!" He bounded after Palestar, trying to stop himself from seeming like an excited kit. The cool and mysterious Sootpaw - off to show the clans how great Shadowclan is!

Brackenwing would turn their head, as they watch its clan-mates go off to the gathering. It was pouring rain and they're starting to get wetter if they stay outside longer. So they went to the warrior den, shook off the wetness from their fur, and sat down near the warrior den entrance. "Hope they'll be alright at the gathering."
